- EndoSound, a start-up in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) in Gastroenterology, recently congratulated Stuart Akerman, MD of Texas completing over 120 cases with the EndoSound Vision System. Dr Akerman is leading the US in the number of cases completed.
- EndoSound is pleased to announce our partnership with Medoxa, a prominent, privately owned company based in the United Arab Emirates.
- Since 2018, Medoxa has been a key player across the Middle East and Africa, specializing in advanced surgical devices, endoscopic solutions, and wound care management. Their focus areas include innovative solutions for GERD, obesity, diabetes management, and vascular interventions.
- We are looking forward to providing access to EUS in EMEA, a market where this procedure has been underutilized.
- November was Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, a time to spotlight this challenging disease and the importance of early detection. At EndoSound, we know all too well the devastating impact of pancreatic cancer, which remains one of the deadliest forms of cancer.
- Hemex participated in India’s premiere hematology conference — Haematocon. At the November conference, Hemex announced the upcoming launch of two new product enhancements for our Gazelle diagnostic device — a test kit for our sickle cell test that dramatically simplifies test preparation with our new “Snap Cartridge” and a new ferritin test that can help diagnose iron deficiency anemia, which is a serious global health issue.
- We received a Phase I grant from NIH NINDS (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke) to research a new test for Gazelle to detect mild traumatic brain injuries in the field that can often go undiagnosed.
- We are also pleased to welcome Brie Stoianoff, our new Vice President of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. An expert in FDA regulatory framework, Brie will provide helpful guidance for the next phase of our growth.

Farewell and Best Wishes to Rene Miller
We share bittersweet news: Rene Miller, our Associate Director, will be retiring on January 10, 2025. Rene plans to relocate to Seattle to enjoy retirement and welcome her first grandchild, due in January.
During her time at OBI, Rene has been a cornerstone of our community. She has played a pivotal role in recruiting and supporting client companies, managing the application process, providing educational programs, and chairing the selection committee. Rene’s strategic planning and advocacy efforts have strengthened relationships with investors, secured vital funding opportunities, and enhanced OBI’s presence within the legislative and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Her dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration has profoundly shaped our culture and advanced our mission.
While we will deeply miss her expertise, leadership, and the warmth she brought to our team, we are excited for this new chapter in her life.
