As part of OTRADI’s mission to foster industry job growth in Oregon, it participates in the Saturday Academy: Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering Program (ASE).

The ASE program matches high school freshman, sophomores and juniors with scientists and engineers for eight-week summer internships in a professional setting. Through this program, OTRADI scientists mentor students, exposing them to career opportunities in an industry that fuels innovation and creates sustainable, high-wage jobs. OTRADI also sponsors area university programs and individual students to conduct scientific research in Oregon.

In addition to participating in the ASE program, OTRADI and its affiliates support Oregon’s education system by helping it to secure funding at the private and federal levels. Since 2008, OTRADI-affiliated researchers at statewide universities have collectively generated more than $43 million in federal and private grants. These funds have primarily supported professors, scientific technicians, post-doctoral researchers, graduate students and undergraduates pursuing science education and training in Oregon.
